World Bank Increases Assistance

The World Bank and Solomon Islands will today sign a Grant Agreement worth more than 2.7 million US dollars to support Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation in the country.

The project objectives include: integrating climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction across the Recipient's sectors and improve climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction information and communication.

It will also increase the resilience of rural communities to climate change and natural hazards.

World Bank Acting Country Director Mr Ulrich Zachau and Minister of Finance Rick Hounipwela will sign the agreement this afternoon at the World Bank office along Mud Alley.

Japan is providing the money for the project under its Human Resource Development Trust Fund.
