Prime Minister, Hon. Gordon Darcy Lilo has described his trip to the recent United Nations General Assembly in New York as a meaningful one for Solomon Islands.
Hon. Lilo stated this upon his arrival in Honiara this week.The meeting was deemed meaningful and successful in that the UN family of member states were informed on the developments in Solomon Islands and its position on regional and international issue.
Prime Minister Lilo said the trip has also availed him to meet both with regional and international leaders at which time he undertook certain important bilateral discussions.
Mr Lilo said he also had an opportunity to meet briefly with President Barrack Obama of the United States and share with him the success of the recent 70th anniversary to commemorate the Guadalcanal campaign in the Solomon Islands.
Regarding his meeting with the head of the country of Georgia, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo said Solomon Island's newly created bilateral relations with Georgia will still remain, despite the country's change of Presidency, of which the Georgian President, Mikheil Saakashvili's lost his seat in the country's elections this week.
Mr Lilo said Georgia's support to the Solomon Islands government and its people will continue and will not stop only with the one-thousand computers.
