Time to Deliver, Not Just Talking: H.E. Sir Nathaniel Waena

Governor General, Sir Nathaniel Waena, called on permanent secretaries to deliver instead of just talking and planning as has happened over the past 29 years.

He says people in rural areas have waited 30 years for better services to be delivered.

Sir Nathaniel says permanent secretaries are in the ministries to enforce continuity.

He says elected politicians come and go but permanent secretaries stay on to make sure government services are delivered.

Sir Nathaniel says they are in a position to advise ministers on policy matters, regulations and the need to amend laws which inhibit development.

He says permanent secretaries should always bear in mind the people in rural areas wanting improvements to their lives.

Sir Nathaniel says 30 years is long enough for the wait and it's now time to deliver.

The Governor General was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of five newly appointed permanent secretaries at the government house yesterday.

The five are Dr. Christian Ramofafia, Ronald Unusi, John Ta'aru, Maelyn Kuve and Henry Pika.
