Taiwan to Send Delegation

In a display of the cordial relations between Solomon Islands and Taiwan, the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), H.E Annette Lu, will lead a big delegation to the country next month.

The 49-high-level entourage including the ROC Foreign Vice Minister, H.E. Amb. Elizabeth Y. E. Chu, will arrive in Honiara on Friday 1st February, 2008.

H.E Vice President Lu is acting as a special envoy of H.E. President Chen Shui-bian in the two-days visit, arriving Friday 1st February, 2008.

During her visit in Honiara, H.E. Vice President Lu will exchange views with leaders and Ministers of Solomon Government on current bilateral issues and matters of mutual concerns in a cordial and congenial atmosphere.

The result will facilitate assistance from Taiwan to Solomon Islands in areas such as education, medical services, agriculture, technology, infrastructure, basic necessities, rural community development and job training.

The delegation's visit in Honiara reflects the growing and healthy mutual relationship between two countries, and will definitely pave the way to further enhance the cooperation and partnership into the future.

Taiwan Embassy firmly believes that this trip led by H.E. Vice President Lu will mark another new chapter in Taiwan-SI relations.

The visit follows H.E. President Chen Shui-bian's historic visit to Solomon Islands in January 2005.
