Sikua Reshuffles Cabinet Ministers

Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua has announced the much anticipated reshuffling of Ministers in his year old government.

In announcing the changes the Prime Minister said that these changes have been made "in view of the need to speed up implementation of various government programmes and projects in the Ministries concerned."

Honourable Edward Huniehu has been relieved from his portfolio as Minister of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification.

Honourable Toswell Kaua has been relieved from his portfolio as Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.

Honourable Manasseh Maelanga, MP for East Malaita has been appointed as the new Minister for Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, replacing Honourable David Pacha.

Honourable Laurie Chan, MP for West Guadalcanal, has been appointed as the new Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs, replacing Honourable Toswell Kaua.

Honourable James Tora has been transferred and posted as the new Minister for Police, National Security, and Correctional Services, replacing Honourable Samuel Manetoali.

Honourable Martin Magga has been transferred and posted as the new Minister for Health and Medical Services, replacing Honourable Johnson Koli.

Honourable Samuel Manetoali has been transferred and posted as the new Minister for Lands, Survey, and Housing, replacing Honourable Martin Magga.

Honourable David Pacha has been transferred and posted as the new Minister for Mines, Energy, and Rural Electrification, replacing Honourable Edward Huniehu.

Honourable Peter Tom has been transferred and posted as the new Minister for Home Affairs, replacing Honourable James Tora.

Honourable Johnson Koli has been transferred and posted as the new Minister for Women, Youth, and Children, replacing Honourable Peter Tom.

The rest of the other Cabinet Ministers retain their existing portfolios. The two newly appointed Ministers are expected to be sworn in as soon as they arrive in Honiara from their Foreign Relations Committee tour.
