Parliamentarian Speaks on Death Penalty

Parliament Member for Lau Mbaelelea Walter Folotalu has spoken of plans to revive the death penalty if people do not stop killing one another.

Speaking during the debate on the Criminal Procedure Code Amendment Bill 2009 in it's second reading, Mr Folotalu asked his people from Malaita to stop killing one another.

The Lau Mbaelelea MP says if we are to stop the trend of tribes avenging the death of their member by killing another person, the death penalty must be re-introduced.

"But if murdering and killing of people of this nation continues, then I will move a motion in this House, so that the death penalty will be re-introduced. So that those who kill, another tribe will not, but let the State avenge the blood of that person."
