Netball Season Opens with Colourful Uniform Parade

The Honiara Netball Association last Saturday opens its 2008 season with a colorful uniform parade at the Lawson Tama netball court.

A total of seven teams took part in the uniform parade including Amoana, Green Berets, Gold Ridge, ISA, Police, SICHE and Southern.

The winner of this year's uniform parade went to the Green Berets, Southerners and the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education students came third.

President of the Honiara Netball Association (HNA), Mrs Noelyn Luahiti at the opening of the 2008 uniform parade commended all the teams who made the open uniform parade a successful one.

Mrs. Luahiti commended young women and girls who have joined to take up netball and pursue the sports.

She acknowledged the support of Our Telekom in sponsoring this year's inter-provincial tournament which will be held in the Central province.

The President also thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Sports Council for their assistance to the team that represented the country in last year's 13th South Pacific games in Apia, Samoa.

Also present to witness the opening of the HNA season was the Honiara City Council Clerk.
