Local Media Doing "Very Good Job": Marshall

Local media in Solomon Islands is doing "a very good job" disseminating information to the general public.

The praises came from Acting Commissioner of Police, Peter Marshall, who commended the local media groups in the country for playing a good role in linking the people both within the country and abroad.

He said that amidst disorders and incidents happening in the country over the year, the media has played a vital role in keeping the public informed and updated.

Mr. Marshall said that with the good relation and interaction between the country's media organisations, the country's local force, the Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIP) and the RAMSI, people have been well-informed of important issues taking place.

"I am pleased and appreciate the very important role played by the media groups in the country."

He urged the media to continue with its good job, particularly with the festive season in place.

Mr. Marshall also took the opportunity to remind the public to be mindful during the festive period and help police to make the weeks ahead days of safe celebrations.
