Bemobile, Solomon Islands second mobile phone service provider says it will be business as usual for the country.
The statement came after the withdrawal of Fiji Vodafone out of Papua New Guinea (PNG).
The withdrawal comes four months after the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to allow Vodafone to manage bemobile.
Bemobile's country manager, Niall Downey said the news about the withdrawal does not affect their operations both in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Solomon Islands.
“Bemobile Limited signed a new contract at the start of the month with our network vendor to develop the business going forward in the Solomon Islands.”
Niall said this new deal will see further improvement and expansions in the country in terms of mobile coverage.
“This will have an immediate impact for our customers over the next three months here in all provinces. This will include a 3G expansion in Honiara and the offering of new value added services.”
He added that all the staff are excited with the new partnership because more exciting activities, promotions and services will be on offer for all its customers.
“All staff within bemobile Solomon’s Islands have been energized by this news and looks forward to developing the partnership with our vendor in the coming weeks for the benefit of our loyal subscribers.
“We will continue to work hard to improve our services and look forward to a strong last quarter for 2013.”
The country manager highlighted that currently bemobile has the largest handset range available at competitive prices.
“We currently have the largest handset range available at competitive prices and are still offering customers great saving with our Turbo promotion.
He also announced that the company also plans to launch a new service that will enable customers to access local news and health information through SMS.
“We are launching this month a free SMS service to enable Solomon Islanders access to local news and health information. The team here are very confident in immediate improvements for bemobile for the rest of 2013 especially for the Western province and in the data sector."
