Beach Soccer Back in Action Soon

Solomon Islands looks forward to more beach soccer action as the league resumes end of this month.

Bilikiki team manager, Ruben Oimae, told Solomon Times that the league was temporarily closed for the festive season.

"The league started late October last year and it is expected to finish in April with about 20 teams competing."

Mr. Oimae said the purpose of the league is to look for potential players to join the national beach soccer squad who will participate in the World Cup qualify in Tahiti in April.

Winner of the game in Tahiti will go through to the Beach World Cup final to be held in Dubai, Saudi Arabia later in the year.

He said that they have already identified a few players to join the national beach soccer team, which will comprise of 17 players.
