Australian music producer, Kelvin Fahey, will arrive in Honiara today ahead of the Solo Icon Grand Final on Sunday 16 August.
Mr Fahey is the President of Hardrush Music - a company specialising in the promotion of independent music across cultural and language boundaries to world markets.While in Honiara, Mr Fahey will be holding a two-day workshop for Solo Icon contestants on song writing, marketing and promotion, in preparation for Sunday night's big event.
Mr Fahey will be a judge at the Solo Icon Grand Final and will be awarding this year's prize - the 2009 Solo Icon will receive a recording contract with Hardrush Music, return airfares to Brisbane courtesy of Pacific Blue and a two-day recording session at Woodhead Studios on Australia's Gold Coast, to record a CD single which will be distributed in Australia and Solomon Islands.
This will be a huge opportunity for the winner of this year's competition to show the world what Solomon Islands youth can do.
Mr Fahey's visit is supported by the Australian High Commission.
