Laucala Students Acknowledged SIG
Dear Editor, I felt obliged on behalf of the first year students currently studying in Laucala Campus in Suva , Fiji would very much like to acknowledge the SIG for granting an offer of scholarship after going through a lot of struggles over the years to meet the necessary requirements. To meet the criteria is not an easy ride for most of us, and especially me for one.
There are former Form 7 students last year that are awarded an SIG scholarship straight away given a GPA of 3 above. Believe me, it’s a lot of struggles! Some of us have gone through course upgrading for some years with the experience of financial constraints. Others are in-service students who might have applied several times but unlucky. The students are pursuing further studies with undergraduate, Postgraduate and Masters programme. Thank you very much Solomon Islands Government for meeting our expenses in terms of airfare, tuition fees, establishment allowance, stipend and book allowance.
We deserve this scholarship and claim to utilize this given opportunity to best of our ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills with education and training so that we can assist in the socio- economic development of our beloved country upon completion. With the assistance given by the Government, I believe will not only benefit ourselves but will also benefit our families, communities, our provinces and our nation as whole. Thank you from the bottom of our heart, MEHRD through National Training Council (NTC) and National Training Unit (NTU) and other stakeholders for facilitating all that is required of us.
